Zulu Saint Louis Social Aid & Pleasure Club Not-for-Profit Organization

The original chapter of Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club of New Orleans date back to early 1900's. There are many variations on the origin but they all share one thing. Zulu means "children of the heavens."

The New Orleans group stands for people and that was what made an impression.

My family has been involved with Mardi Gras here in Saint Louis for 18 years. This is strictly volunteer work and we get great enjoyment in helping the community. Mardi Gras Inc. donates contributions to different charities in the area. We, meaning family and friends are also involved in multiple charities in Saint Louis and East Louis.

Here is a link that gives a more detail history of the Zulu http://www.mardigrasneworleans.com/zulu/

Zulu provides scholarships, help for the needy, food drives, etc. Anything that helps the community, the Zulu are there. Zulu Saint Louis

The main goal for Zulu Saint Louis is to aid in the social and educational development, for Young people in the East Saint Louis and Saint Louis Metropolitan areas. Zulu Saint Louis will set a positive example for youth. Right now, too many youths are lost without guidance. Gangs and other negative elements have become the family and the guidance for the youth. Zulu will be a positive element needed to guide them to be a positive element in the community.

¨ Food drives
¨ Scholarships
¨ Educational aid to those in need
¨ Free legal aid
¨ Support for needy
¨ Community involvement

I envision the group here to help everyone, but hoping it brings together people and groups that might not other wise meet. I am shooting for the youth and family involvement, to make up Zulu Saint Louis. Young people will be involved, because I believe they hear things, we as adults forget. In addition, youth can learn from adults by example of a positive nature. Zulu Saint Louis is a multi-ethic group with ages ranging from 18 to 70. Which in a way I believe helps God's plan. We are all one people; we forget that fact, God did not.

I have already been approach by other groups wanting to panther on different projects. Right now we are waiting on is the paperwork for Zulu in New Orleans.

One group made up of the community helping the community.
